Introduction and Acceptance of Terms
Welcome to GptSkin (gptskin.best), an image-backed theme service for the Codex desktop app. By accessing or using GptSkin — including the website, the open-source Codex Skill, and the theme build service — you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Description of the Service
GptSkin lets you build and apply personalized themes to Codex from an image. You may attach your own image or ask Codex imagegen to create one locally first; both use the same paid --image pipeline. The website manages accounts, Credits, device authorizations, optional advanced API Keys, and theme artifacts. The open-source GptSkin Skill starts the paid build and applies themes locally by injecting CSS variables, backgrounds, and controlled decorative layers into the running Codex interface via a Chrome DevTools Protocol (CDP) launch flag bound only to the loopback address (127.0.0.1).
GptSkin does not modify the official app installation package, app.asar, code signatures, your API Key, or your Base URL. A one-click restore (Restore the default Codex theme) removes all injections and restarts Codex normally.
GptSkin is an independent product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or officially connected to OpenAI. "ChatGPT" and "Codex" are trademarks of OpenAI and are used here only to describe compatibility.
User Accounts
- Account creation: The 6 free preset themes work without an account. A paid custom image-theme build requires an account at gptskin.best and browser authorization for the device running the Skill. You must provide accurate registration information.
- Account security: You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and any device tokens or advanced API Keys confidential, and for all activity under your account.
- Notification: Notify us immediately at support@gptskin.best if you suspect unauthorized use of your account.
Credits and Payments
GptSkin uses one-time Credit packages — not a subscription:

- Paid Credits never expire.
- Sign-up bonus Credits expire 30 days after they are granted.
- Each new paid image-theme build costs 20 Credits, whether the source image is yours or was created locally with Codex imagegen. Reapplying a saved theme does not consume Credits.
- Technical failures: if a paid build fails due to a system error on our side, the Credits are automatically returned to your balance. This is a Credit refund, not a payment refund.
- Payments are processed by Creem, our Merchant of Record, which is responsible for applicable taxes. Your payment relationship for a purchase is with Creem.
- Refunds are governed by our Refund Policy.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Upload images that infringe copyright, trademark, or other third-party rights, or that you have no right to use.
- Upload or generate content that is unlawful, harmful, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, overload, or disrupt the GptSkin service or its infrastructure.
- Use the service to violate the terms of any third-party software, or for any illegal purpose.
- Share, sell, or abuse your device token or advanced API Key.
Intellectual Property
- The GptSkin Skill is open source and available on GitHub under its published license.
- You retain the rights to the images you upload (and represent that you have those rights). You may use the themes you generate for personal use.
- The GptSkin website, branding, and service infrastructure remain our property.
Disclaimer of Warranties
The service is provided "as is" and "as available." In particular:
- Desktop app updates: updates to the Codex desktop app may change internal interface structures and cause themes to stop applying correctly or pause working entirely until we ship a compatible update. We will make reasonable efforts to restore compatibility, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted compatibility with future app versions.
- We make no warranties about accuracy, reliability, or availability, and disclaim all warranties to the fullest extent permitted by law.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, GptSkin shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including loss of data, profits, or goodwill — arising from your use of or inability to use the service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the service, at our discretion, for conduct that violates these Terms or is harmful to other users, us, or third parties. You may stop using the service and request account deletion at any time. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including limitation of liability and governing law) survive.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which GptSkin operates, without regard to conflict-of-law provisions.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes are effective when posted on this page. Your continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
